The Information-Age is Over!

The Information-Age is over. The invention of the computer is credited with the birth of the Information-Age. But it didn’t really hit the stratosphere until the Internet became the pantry of information. And early on, that is exactly what the Internet was used for. Companies set up websites to provide information about the company. Individuals put up website that gave information about themselves or about their favorite sports team, or actor, or disease.
Today, thanks to sites like Yahoo and Google, we are using the Internet, not just as an information warehouse, but as a way to share knowledge. As a consequence, the Internet is becoming a crucial tool whenever we have a problem to solve. The most expedient way to solve a problem is to see if someone else has already solved the same problem and adopt that solution. The Internet is a great tool to get instant knowledge to help solve problems. One of humanities great instincts is the instinct to share knowledge. Google, Yahoo, Ask.com, MSN Live Search, AltaVista, and Lycos have ‘shared’ us into the Knowledge-Age.

Sadly, the information age as you define it is not over yet. The metaphor of search provided by today internet search technologies provides a clumsy and largely failed model of concept retrieval for serious research and problem solving. Fortunately, relief is on the horizon. Models of design-intent based search are already replacing traditional search technologies in some enviroments. In the coming model of concept retrieval, users are freed of the burden of search as information is mobilized and users' actions become concept attractors that draw applicable and actionable knowledge in a just-in-time way.

Actually , the " Information Age " began with the invention of the printing press at around 1439 by Johannes Gutenburg .
It is also my opinion that the " Intelligence Age " started with the invention of the Computer.
All this is relevent to perception and interpretation , in regards to what age we are in . With the present reality of weapons of mass destruction and terrorism , one might say we live in the " Terror Age " .
I suppose collective public opinion and the media will popularize phrases and ideas soon enough , leading to the accepted "Age" we currently reside
in .
